BOILING SPRINGS FIRE DISTRICT TO CONDUCT 9-11 OBSERVANCE

Taft Matney -

Saturday, September 11, 2021, Greenville County’s Boiling Springs Fire District will hold a public service observing 20 years since the 2001 terror attacks on the United States.

The event will be conducted at the District’s headquarters located at 5020 Pelham Road (at the corner of Pelham and Garlington Roads) in Greenville County.

With the District’s 9/11 Memorial as the backdrop, the public and members of the fire service are invited to assemble at 8:30 a.m., with a brief observance beginning at 8:46 a.m. – marking the time that the North Tower of the World Trade Center was hit by American Airlines Flight 11 after being hijacked by terrorists.

The District’s chaplain, the Rev. Dr. Gary Rogers, will make remarks and close the ceremony with the reading of “The Firefighter’s Prayer.” The event will also include participation by Boiling Springs Fire District’s Honor Guard.

The Boiling Springs Fire District asks that those individuals exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19 or who have been in close contact with anyone infected with COVID-19 to please take part in the observance by viewing the ceremony through the District’s Facebook page that is accessible through boilingspringsfd.org. For members of the public who attend the observance in person, the District will have socially-distanced seating and will have facemasks available for those who do not have one but desire one.
