Community Risk Reduction
Our mission is to reduce risk, prevent injuries and loss, and build a safer community through Education, Engineering, Economic Incentives, Enforcement, and Emergency Response. This effort is supported by strong community partnerships, proactive outreach, and a shared commitment to our community.

What is Community Risk Reduction (CRR)?
CRR is a data‑driven approach that identifies local risks and uses education, engineering, enforcement, and emergency response to reduce them.
Why is CRR important for our community?
It helps prevent emergencies before they happen, improves public safety, and reduces loss of life and property.
How does the fire department identify community risks?
We analyze incident data, community demographics, building types, and local hazards to understand where risks exist and how to address them.
What are the most common preventable risks in our area?
Typically these include cooking fires, improper smoke alarm installation or maintenance, home heating issues, and medical emergencies.
How can residents get a free home safety visit?
Residents can schedule a visit through our online form or by calling the fire department. We check smoke alarms, provide safety tips, and identify hazards.
Does the fire department offer smoke alarm installation?
Yes. We provide and install free smoke alarms for households in need as part of our CRR mission.
How does CRR benefit emergency response?
By reducing preventable incidents and improving preparedness, CRR helps lower call volume, shortens response times, and ensures resources are available for true emergencies.
What programs does the fire department offer for businesses?
We provide fire safety presentations, evacuation planning support, extinguisher training, and risk assessments to help businesses improve safety and meet code requirements.
Safety Starts with Awareness
Boiling Springs Fire District’s Community Risk Reduction (CRR) program is built on the belief that prevention and preparedness save lives. Through a combination of public education, targeted outreach, community partnerships, and data-informed strategies, we work to identify local risks and provide practical guidance that helps residents, businesses, and visitors make safer choices every day.
Our CRR Spotlights and safety guides are designed to deliver clear, reliable information on common hazards and emerging concerns, from home fire safety and severe weather preparedness to seasonal risks and everyday prevention measures. Each resource is focused on simple actions that can reduce the likelihood of emergencies and lessen their impact when they do occur.
Safety is a shared responsibility, and meaningful change happens when a community works together. Whether you are reviewing a checklist, sharing a safety message, or participating in a program or event, you are helping strengthen the overall resilience of our community. We invite you to explore these resources, put them into practice, and join us in creating a safer environment for everyone, today and into the future. If you have questions or suggestions, please let us know. It’s your community too!
